    Amid the sunlit hills and cypress-lined roads, the Avignonesi winery – one of Tuscany’s most respected wine estates – shines like a jewel. Founded in the 16th century, the property stands as a symbol of deep tradition with a modern forward-thinking commitment to sustainability. The brand is currently owned and operated by Virginie Saverys. Hailing from Belgium and a lawyer by trade, she assumed ownership in 2009 and transitioned to a full-time vintner with a desire to build upon the success and popularity of the brand. Her mission was bold: to transform Avignonesi into a fully organic and biodynamic estate. This entailed eliminating fertilizers, chemicals, solvents, and anything else that commercial wineries utilize to ensure consistent fruit every year. Her aim was simple: restore soil health, and embrace nature’s own rhythms.

    Our collaboration with the winery produced a classic field blend, reminiscent of older times when several different grape varieties are harvested simultaneously and blended, creating a complex, harmonious wine that reflects the unique vineyard site (terroir) rather than crafting a wine from a single grape. In this case, the wine is predominantly Sangiovese with ample portions of classic Tuscan grape varieties Canaiolo Nero, Mammolo, Alicante, and Ciliegiolo.

    The color of the wine is bright red with garnet hues. On the nose, aromas of fresh bing cherry are anchored by subtle hints of balsamic and baking spices. On the pallet the wine is fresh, yet ripe, with a firm tongue-tingling acidity. The tannin levels are medium to medium plus, providing a welcome gentle tug between the cheek and the gum. The flavor is suggestive of crushed red berries, leather and green herbs, and the finish is pleasantly long with a silky mouthfeel and lasting ‘la dolce vita’ satisfaction. CHEERS!

    Orders are fulfilled and shipped by our friends at NY Vintners and are subject to NYC sales tax 8.875%.  Orders are processed Mondays and shipped Wednesdays.  Shipping can take up to seven (7) business days to arrive to destination.  At this time we can only ship within the US, and certain shipping restrictions apply. If your state does not allow shipments from NY state then we will contact you to discuss other options.  Thank you for your understanding and interest in our wine program.

    Your package will be sent via UPS, Fedex or a local courier. An adult signature will be required at delivery. In the event delivery cannot be made after three attempts, you are responsible for picking up the package at a local facility prior to it being returned to sender. In this event, additional shipping fees may apply.

    Any wine sold to you from NY Vintners is sold in New York and title passes to you, the buyer, in New York. Sales tax is charged accordingly. By placing an order, you authorize us to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to your selected destination. In the case of shipments outside New York State, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations or tax requirements rests with the customer. If we are unable to ship to your area, we apologize for any inconvenience and we will contact you to discuss other arrangements or a full refund.
